Q. I’m an adult and I’ve never had a card before.
What do I need to sign up? (18+) A. You’ll need a valid I.D. and proof of residency. Q. I’m a minor and I’ve never had a card before. What do I need to sign up? (17-) A. You’ll need a parent or legal guardian with a library card present to sign you up (child does not have to be present). If your adult doesn't have one yet, they can sign up at the same time as you. Q. Where do I have to live to be able to get a Library Card here? A. Residents and employees of Pike and surrounding counties can sign up for their first library card for free (Dale, Barbour, Bullock, Crenshaw, Coffee, Montgomery). If you live outside of the area, you can sign up for a yearly fee. Q. I already have a library card but I lost it. How can I get a new one? A. Replacement cards are $5 (you can get a free replacement during September). If you come in with your I.D., we can pull up your account right away. If you’re a minor and don’t have an I.D., it’s easiest to bring along your parent or legal guardian with their library card or I.D. to pull up your account. Q. I have a library card but haven’t used it in several years. Is it still good? A. If you’ve used and updated your Library card in the past five years, it should still be good. If you haven’t used your card in the past five years it may have been removed, since we’re currently in the process of removing inactive cards. Don’t worry, you can still sign-up again! |
Q. I got a notification that my card expired.
Do I have to get a new one? A. “Expired” in this case just means we need to update your information. Your card is still good, but the information in our system such as phone numbers requires updating/verifying every year after your birthday. Q. How old does my child have to be for me to sign them up for a card? A. There’s no age minimum.
